Going from conventional to synth oil???

I've heard in higher mileage engines that have used conventional oil all it's life, that it isn't such a good idea to go to synthetic oil because the gaskets are conditioned for conventional and would cause oil leaks.

Any truth behind this??? Would it be better to try a synthetic blend instead?

Thanks!

Synthetic oil is a much better buy all around for all engines. Synthetic oil will not cause leaks but reveal them, since it contains less impurities that are in conventional oil it will flow better. Its possible the impurities that are in the conventional oil you are using are somewhat stopping leaks (cogging tiny holes in gaskets) You can switch back to conventional oil anytime you like if you do not like the synthetic.
