GMMG Muffler Sold Separetly?

My hooker muffler is too quiet, I heard an GMMG clip and it sounded quite aggressive just idling. Anyone know if I can buy the GMMG muffler separately and where?

Nope, you can only get the complete cat-back system from GMMG. I doubt if you're interested, but there is a GP going on right now for this exhaust($650 that already includes shipping). Expensive, but mine has been well worth it for sound, looks, and performance.

Faceless: thanks for the link but they described it as giving the car a more 'mellow' sound. I'm looking for a pissed off growl. Thanks again though.

Indy: If I went ahead and joined the GP where would the exhaust be shipped from? I noticed the website is F-body Worldwide. Also, I wasn't able to get a username at this time to post a question on that board, maybe you could help me. They're saying we need 10 people for the GP yet only two people have replied, both of whom have sent their money. Do we have 10 people already and everyone is just now paying? If not what happens if I send my $650 and not enough people join?

Question

I'm interested in the chambered style, but if its the same as GMMG, how can they justify charging such a high price? I realize that theirs is a complete catback, but still...Also, how can GMMG say theirs sounds "agressive", while the sweet thunder is "mellow"...? any thoughts?

their time designing it, their labor to weld it all up, and then they probably double it for profit.

the regular mufflers have regular chambered sound..........the second type of mufflers are the custom ones

the custom mufflers you can choose whatever outer diamter you want, and a smaller inner diamter tube, to mellow out the sound, so its not so aggressive.

OK, it's like this.

Yeah, their system is a complete or full cat-black made of top of the line stainless steel. Sweet Thunder just offers out the chambered mufflers only(which are similar to GMMG's, but not quite the same though). You'll then have to pay a good exhaust shop for the rest of the piping(tips, tailpipes, intermediate pipe, etc.) to put together and then install this. Depending upon the shop, they may or may not be able to use mandrel bent and highgrade stainless steel piping.

So yes, it would probably be a good $200/$300 cheaper this way to kind of make one of your own. BUT...I've seen several of these home-made systems with the Sweet Thunder chambered mufflers and they looked absolutely horrible underneath the car. So whether it sounded or performed nearly as good as the GMMG system, I wouldn't want something that looked that cheap under my nice Camaro.

Besides, when you think about it, this GP price isn't much different than any Borla, B&B Triflow, or Corsa system. With that considered, I went with the GMMG because I liked the aggressive muscle car sound of it better than those other expensive systems.

No matter what, you'll definitely get what you pay for with this exhaust in terms of sound, looks, performance, & fit/finish...

if you think GMMG's price is expensive........look at sweet thunders price for a full exhaust on a 92-96 corvette header back stainless steel exhaust $850-950 !!!!!!

i just called up sweet thunder and ordered two 18" long, 3" wide stainless steel chambered mufflers for my true duals setup.

they were nice to deal with, and said he would even ship it out today, since ups hadnt been there yet.

when he asked what setup i was building (longtube header, 3" x-pipe, mufflers, dumps before axle) , he just said "damn, thats gonna be LOUD!"

mufflers cost $66 each, plus shipping, total was about $150
custom exhaust shop is charging me $150 to weld it all together with 3" mandrel pipe, and an X-pipe.
so $300 total for my true duals. ill post pics when its done.

Definately need some clips, I think the only one who has posted a sound clip of GMMG was Indy. That clip sounded awesome and there was no rev-ing involved, ah..I could only imaging with reving...anyways, I've been looking at all the exhaust systems offered for our LT1's and the only ones I thought sounded great were GMMG and true-duals. I am torn between the two for money reasons, duals being much cheaper, but I think the GMMG would keep the interior resonance to a minimum. Hey Indy, I was wondering...what were the reasons you chose GMMG and how is the sound compared to the other cars in your car club? Also what kind of performance gain did you see? Thanks all.

terlox: When I joined the first GMMG GP there on f-bodyhideout I sent the money to GMMG direct and told them I was part of the GP there. If you send the money and they don't get ten people (which is what happened with our group) you'll just have to pay the difference. Our group still got a $25 dollar price break even though we only managed to get 3 or 4 peeps.

Bersaglieri: I chose the GMMG because from all the sounds clips I heard it was deep and Mean! I read up on all the F-body forums I could find threads about GMMG on and the only negative comment I ever saw was the price. I'm not a cheapskate when it comes to my car so my decision was made. I have Zero regrets on spending the money. My car sounds awesome and I get compliments from other f-body owners all the time. Even ones with much louder cars When I went to our club meet w/my GMMG for the first time everyone loved it. I had a lot of guys pulling me aside saying it sounded better than all the other cars out there. As far as performance gains I haven't dynoed since the install. I definetly felt a SOTP difference though and the sound at WOT

Hope this answers all your questions
