GM847 vs. CC306

I'm going to go with the Advanced Induction "econoport" heads and one of the cams in the subject. With the heads and the 847 many cars have made 400+ whp, would the cc306 do the same? Which cam is more streetable(if any lol)? I also plan on doing a forged bottom end using the stock crank so i think i'd be ok to turn 6500+ rpm's. How do the specs on these cams compare?

I think they are both great cams for big power. The duration is fairly close, 234/242 for the GM, 230/244 for the 306, with the GM have a decent amount more lift. I am going with the 306, mainly because I have been in a car that had it, and it ran and souded awesome. Im sure the GM cam would be great as well. They both seem to have "decent" street manners with a good tune on a m6. Good luck either way!

With Advanced Induction Econoport heads and the GM 847 cam my drivability is not bad, atleast for me it isn't. Everyone has their own tolerances as to whats too much for the street. Use the CC306 if I you're planning on running N20 or if your exhaust flow numbers aren't that great. Otherwise go with the GM847.

The GM847 cam is the official CamaroZ28.com camshaft for the year 2003

When I first joined this board, everyone had to have the Hotcam, then it was the CC305, then CC306 then XE230/236. Now its the GM847

Same with heads for that matter. First it was "out-of-the-box" AFRs, then GTPs, then Proformance and now it's Lloyd Elliot and Advanced Induction.

I've got the 306, nice cam, but I was thinking of maybe replacing the 1.6 rockers with the 1.7's. I wonder what kind of power increase that would give me?

I personally wouldn't recommend a GM 847 on a stock displacement LT1 motor. I know many people have had awesome results with it, but with something like, say the XE 230/236, you will probably get maybe 10-15hp less, but the extra torque you make down low and the good street manners of that cam I think would be better suited to everyday use. Good luck.

I went with the 306, because I wanted a 112 LSA, and a little bit more duration for some bubble juice over another comprable cam, like the XE. I didn't know about he 847 when i bought the 306...My car is down for a timing cover seal among other things, and if my cam has to come out, an 847 or a custom grind will go back in.

So the two are about the same with the gm having larger lift numbers and the 306 has a larger lsa then. I may spray in the future as my goal is to dip into the 11's as a college student
