Would you believe GM Parts Depot could not tell me whether or not the 17120735 "2nd design" lifter used in our 96/97 LT1 would work in a 95 block with the stock push rods.

They recommended I use the stock 5234890 lifter to "match factory specs".

Is the 2nd design lifter exactly the same except for the check ball spring preload?

I'm thinking Comp Pro Mags 875 now. GM loses another sale...

 

They probably did not want to be liable. There is no reason you can't use them.
