I'd have to agree. I'm trying to talk a good friend out of getting that kit now and redoing his stock heads and finding a nice cam. That's my route if I don't decide to go bigger before then.

Let's leave costs out of it, pretend we have unlimited funds.

With all the heads available for the LT-X, is an LT-4 head worth it?

Obviously, I could port my stock heads. I could also buy the new Trick Flow heads, AFR's... Canfields I think... They have an LT head, right?

So basically, is the extra height on the intake ports WORTH buying an LT-4 head and matching manifold, or is it better to just go right to an aftermarket type of head regardless of price?

I'd probably go with a cam and ported/polished LT1 heads, but if you want to do the LT4 kit, it should make 330-360RWHP depending on what else you have. My LT4 Hawk makes 302RWHP with tuning, but there is still probably another 5HP or so left in the tune (haven't had a chance to get Madwolf to send me a revised program yet). That is through stock TB and exhaust manifolds, but with ram air intake and SLP catback. Considering that the LT4 kit comes with the Hotcam (mine is an actual LT4, so it's got the stock LT4 cam), and most of them I've seen also come with a 52mm TB, I'd say 330 with the kit and stock manifolds is very doable. I've seen many LT4 Vettes swap in just the Hotcam and make 330RWHP (usually starting at 300RWHP stock), so add on the 52mm TB and headers and get a good tune and I'd definitely say 350RWHP-360RWHP is very achievable.
