I'm happy with all 200 miles I've gotten out of it, now I have to figure out my oil pressure problem.

Great cam, not sure on the XE's but after months of research compared to custom grinds this cam stood out. Do a search on GM847 on here dude, couple guys are running high 11's, I'm in the low 12s on 17x11 chrome AFR's & BFG KDs (heavy setup) & stock heads(for 2 more months). ET streets/DragLites and 12 bolt should get me to my target with a good launch. 12 bolt goes in this weekend if I don't have to work.

Now I'm talking about a 383 here, but I started with the 224/230 XE in my 383 it would trap in the 109 mph range, (3700 + car) I later added the 230/236 and it felt a little better, but It didnt feel alot better. I had to replace some lifters that were going bad, so I decided "why not try the GM 847 , just for fun" so I changed springs and lifters and cam, had it mail order tuned and went to the track, it seems the longer its in there the better it gets. My mph went up to 114-115. And the car around town has crazy linear power all the way up to the rev limiter (which will be removed soon.)

Think your holding back on your stroker my friend. Have you considered or reserached a custom grind 4/7 cyl swap high .600 lift cam? I mean on my street radials with bone stock heads, stock cubed rebuilt forged bottom-end, all the boltons, I'm hitting 112mph. Your stroker has more potential. Not that an 847 is a baby-cam, I don't consider my .611/.632 lift small but when I get the 396 out of the machine shop she's getting a high .600 lift cam and the 847 will stay with this block as my backup engine.

Yep, I know for a fact it could use an optimised cam (especially in the LS and LC dept). But this is a good example of what he cam could do in comparisson. I plan on pulling the motor this winter (2004 Oct) and doing the motor right. Right now I have KB pistons, I plan on adding some 12cc dish SRPs and a better cam.

Sweet, I can't wait to start mine, it's a slow buildup but rewarding when you do it yourself.

Dont let anyone talk you out of a good set of pistons like I did, I havent had problems with the KBs, but now I'm gonna add some juice soon and the KBs will only take so much, shoulda done it right the first time. (as with the cam)

When I built the motor I thought the 224/230 would make plenty of power, it proved me wrong and by changing the cam I gain 4 or 5 mph!!! that tells me the cam was part of the problem. I have learned now the 383s love the duration and lift.

I have no issues with it, I want mine to idle down a little though, it currently idles @ 900rpm, so once I drop it down to 775 or so I'll see.

no problems here either with vacuum, tuning was the key for this cam especially for the low rpms, stoplight traffic, etc.

I just installed the 847 a few weeks ago. I have stock bottom end and LPE LT4 top end. With my setup, the car is very driveable...I drive it almost every day. The cam is awesome!!!! Roll into the throttle in 2nd gear at 35 mph and the tires get blown away; grab third and light em up again My car put down 360 rwhp with the LPE 74211 cam and the 847 feels much stronger. I am taking it to the dyno next week and hoping for over 400 at the wheels. Definitely a mod worth doing in my opinion!
