Question GM 847 cam on 114 LSA?

I was wondering how you guys think the GM 847 cam would work on 114 LSA. I like the Idle and driveabiltiy of a cam on 114 over the 112 LSA. Would this greatly affect how this cam works? Who can custom grind a cam like this?

Thanks

I don't think that you'd get the same power numbers, but the cam would love the juice. I'm sure that the people that manufacture that cam (I can't remember, I think Crane has one) and tell them to custom grind it on a 114 lsa.

I would have no problem sacrificing some up top HP for the better driveabilty of the 114 LSA. Anyone else have any thoughts or opinons?

Do you have the 847 now? When you change that cam to a wider LSA you are not going to help the issues that it has with drivability for the most part, the problem you feel mostly is the lack of low end part throttle TQ and overlap, you can run more overlap if you have the TQ to match it. If you don't like the drivability then you have the wrong cam since the thing is already way off with the wide LSA that it starts with.

Re: GM 847 cam on 114 LSA?

Right now I have a cc305 cam on 114 LSA. other friends have about the same sized cams as mine, but they have the 112 LSA and I like the idle and driveabilty of my cam over theirs. I want to run a larger cam than the one I have. I like the specs of that GM 847 cam, but just wonder how it would be on the 114 LSA.

It's going to be sackless in the midrange compared to what you have now, you might not want to just go bigger and put it on a wider LSA, big common mistake with camshafts from what I see all the time.

Re: GM 847 cam on 114 LSA?

I know Im kinda bringing back an old one here, but Bret, I like how the 114 lsa cams have almost a sleeper idle. Can you recomend a cam on 114 lsa that is better than my cc305 cam? I want my car to have more pull up top. I have mildly ported heads and 3000 stall.

Thanks

Re: GM 847 cam on 114 LSA?

If you hear any of my cams, they're not sleepers thats for sure. The 114LSA is not the way to go to get that. You just need the system put together the right way for the cam to pull hard up top.... good midrange power (which is what makes the car quick) along with high RPM power does not go well with a smooth idle.... just can't happen.
