GM 847 cam with 1.6 rockers

I have a 1996 lt1 want to put a gm847 cam in it with 1.6 rockers. Will i have any clearance problems with the stock bottem end. The car already has long tube headers with flow masters and 3in. exhaust and cold ait intake and a 4.10 gear. Also am i gona see any power improvements. do i need a stall convertor too. what kind of power would yall expect from this setup and maybe 1/8 mile time. My buddy has an 03 cobra that wants to run me so basicly what will i have to do to stay with him or beat him.
thanks, charlie

you shouldn't have any clearance problems
in order to take advantage of the power curve you will need a different stall and gears
not sure on the power gains.

You definitely need a stall. Cam only power has seen 350rwhp with that cam.

Depending on what your friend has done to his 03 Cobra you may need alot more than just a cam. Hell, with just a pulley and a tune he'll be about 100 hp to the wheels more than your car with the 847 and 1.6 rr's. Find out what he has done to the car and then we can figure out just what you're car will need to win.
