Re: Gm 846

it is one step under the 847 it has .222 / .230 dur. it has .544 / .564 lift with 1.6 rocker arms so its inbetween the hot cam and the 847. i`m just wondering how it would work with stock heads my car is a m6 with just basic bolt ons so this seems like a good choice to me just trying to find someone who may have used this cam

There shouldn't be any problem going with the 847 cam. Even with the 846 you will need tuning so why not go for a little more power. There are several stock heads people running that cam..... I believe that is the cam that Atljar is running high 11's on...

Re: Gm 846

what would be wrong driveability wise? as long as you get it tuned correctly I don't see what problem you are expecting...

ask atljar how he likes his...

You could always PM atljar and ask him about it if you don't here from him in this thread. Just a suggestion.

Re: Gm 846

I found the 847 to be very driveable. The car is my only car and it was reliable, got decent mileage, and surge wasnt as bad as some say it should be. I would not suggest the cam though without bigger gears in a m6 car (410+), or 373s and a stall in an a4 car. Good luck

Oh ya...on the 846, check out some of the impala SS boards. That seems to be a popular grind for the impy boys.

Re: Gm 846

I think the 846 might me a better choice since you are very concerned about daily drivability. It's so close to the Hotcam that you might just want to consider the Hotcam. It's a proven performer, and will get you in the 12's as well.

Re: Gm 846

Since it's not OVER 230 duration, it should still be emissions friendly wouldn't it?

Re: Gm 846

My friend Jb had that cam, he liked it a lot. Aparently it sounds really mean for such a small cam. You could prolly with cats and tunning get it to pass smog.

Re: Gm 846

I recently installed this cam and am extremely happy with it. My previous cam had the same duration but less lift. The addition lift of this cam has given me much more torque than before. This past weekend I was able to run a new best of 11.94 with a 1.59 60'. My previous best was 12.01 with a 1.67 60' but I had pulled a 1.64 best. My car does have ported stock heads but the combo is still extremely streetable. On a trip to the beach, I got a little over 20 mph. Not bad considering I also have 3.73s and a 3200 stall. You definitely can't go wrong with this cam.

What kinda gas milage do you get with the 847? I guess I'll find out soon, just have to finish putting the rockers on the car and the intake.
