glaze on windshield
glaze on windshield
I just noticed this the other day, on mostly the drivers side of the car there is like a glaze on the bottom of the windshield on the inside. looks like steam, but it does not go away. there is a little on the the pass. side also. is my heater core leaking? same kinda thing happened in my buddy's 5.0, but you could smell it. any help would be aprreciated. thanks
Hmm...If the heater core is leaking from the tubing going into the firewall(so leaking into the engine bay)..it will drop coolant onto the headers and exhuast...causeing white smoke to come up on the passenger side. I dont know what would happen if the actaul heater core is leaking inside the dash..never had that problem. Heatercore is on pass, not driver side.
What does "glaze" mean. You mean like white substance on the inside of the glass? Or actual steam?

it looks like steam. but it is like a residue, has an oily feel to it. the way it appears on the window is like to was blown onto the window, if you know what i mean. like it came from an air vent, but there is no vent there. I am totally lost as to what it could be.
Don't worry about it, mine does it to. If you put a dash mat on the car it helps a lot. All it is, is residue from our giant dash boards. Since it is so warm here most of the time the plastic sweats, causing the foggy looking stuff on the bottom of the windshield. If your heater core broke in the car the passanger side floor board would be soaked with coolant.
EDIT: At the dealership I work for all the Cavaliers and a lot of the S10's have the same build up on the windows. It is becasue they just sit out in the sun all sealed up because nobody ever buys them or takes them on test drives. During the summer I usually have to clean the inside of the windows on them so you can see out, if somebody actually does want to drive one.
