"Ghost Turbo"

I'm trying to figure out what it is, and where it's comming from. But every time I get on my Car and red line it around 6200 RPMs my car makes this Turbo type blow off sound... you here this noticable Tsssssssttt!!! When you shift the gears. It sounds pretty cool, but jsut what in the hell is it? So far it sounds like.... Raaaaaaaaaaarrr Tssssstttt (2nd gear) rooooaaaaaarrrrrr Tssstt! (3rd gear) Raaaaaaarrrrrrrr Tssssssttt! (4th gear)

anyone know?

Idon't want to suddently hear ... rrrroooaarrr Tsssst! then POW!!! and my engine parts all over the place.

Any chance you have a K&N intake? My buddy just put one on his pick-up, and it does the same thing. It does sound kinda cool though.

Re: "Ghost Turbo"

Could it be a bit of slippage of the accesory belt? That's pretty common - when you shift into a higher gear, the belt is suddenly going a lot slower than the accessories. All the accessories have momentum, so the belt slips a little bit until the speeds match.

Re: "Ghost Turbo"

Have you removed the intake silencer? I'd say between that and a CAI, that'd be what you're hearing.

Your best bet is to cut out a block of wood and put it in there, then clamp it down with a band clamp. I've even heard some people say the caps to deodarant bottles and shampoo bottles fitting on perfectly.
