Question Getting a set of roller rockers...

Getting a set of roller rockers and was wondering which ones I should get. Are the GMPP 1.6's any good or what? A friend of mine was going to sell me a set and I was wondering if they were worth the money? Also, do I need to change any parts when installing a set or will my stock springs,...etc work fine? I was also planning on 355 LE1 setup in the future when I get some extra cash. I know that I need to take this under consideration when getting new parts so that I don't need to replace them later. Any suggestions?

The GMPP rockers are ok (I'm assuming they are the ones in the hotrcam kit) but upgrade the springs. For a stock cam and 1.6 rockers you can use LT4 springs.

The GMPP rockers are actually Crane rockers from what I've read.

Re: Getting a set of roller rockers...

I have Crane self aligning rockers which are the same as the GMPP ones. They are OK but are alittle noisy, If I were to do it agian I would go with comps and use guide plates with some hardened pushrods. The comps are really nice units.

If I were to do a 355 Le1 setup would the GMPP 1.6's hold up?

What does Lloyd recommend with his setup?

The Comp Pro Mags would probably be my first choice with this cam but I'd go with whatever Lloyd recommends.

Ok, planning on getting a set of Comp pro mags 1.6 NSA 7/16 stud. What do I need to change besides getting a set of 7.2 hardened pushrods, 7/16 studs, and a set of GM guide plates? Can I use my stock springs? I'm already over on my budget.

At least LT4 Spring set, now if you get a LE1 cam youll need bigger ones, but those will do until you get the H/C package. I got my LT4 springs, locks, etc for $40 shipped. BTW I used 7.195 size pushrods that Summit said wouldnt work on an LT1, but they work great. Comp's hardened ones 7608-16 I think.

Re: Getting a set of roller rockers...

no, usually with ANY cam upgrade its not recomended to go with stock RR's or springs... just picture it as a CHEAP insurance as opposed to a repair or a new engine that would be needed if something went wrong.

Re: Getting a set of roller rockers...

I went with the Scorpions 1.7 and Beehive Springs. Installed them last december and got a very noticeable power increase.

I'm not installing a cam rightnow. I'm just replacing the lifters. I was just wondering if I could use the comp pro mags with my stock springs.

Re: Getting a set of roller rockers...

you stated you are going to use comp pro mags 1.6rr. The stock rr are 1.5. when you increase the lift by switching to a longer rocker arm, you should replace the springs. this will aviod the chance of coil bind.
