Getting ready

I getting ready to to do a head cam swap and I have a couple of questions. I bought one of Bret's custom cams and I was wondering if I need to change the oil pump drive gear. I have heard some cams eat up the stock gear. Also I am thinking of going with the Impala head gaskets, with the Le1 cam and 1.6 rockers. Along with minimal cleanup on the head surface to "square it up" should I still have enough piston to valve clearance?

I do not beleive you would have to change out the oil pump drive gear. But call Bret and ask him. He would beable to give you a definate answer.

Even if you don't, I'd advice replacing it with a new stocker anyways.

When I pulled my last one out the plastic retainer was cracked.
