Getting 224/230 cam installed...
Getting 224/230 cam installed...
. Just dropped my car off at my buddies shop to do my cam kit(224/230 112 lsa, 1.6 rockers, springs, etc). Also, AS&M headers, Midwest 2800 stall w/ 2.5 str, and madz28 tune. This is going into a 1993 firehawk with the stock ram air set up and a cut-out. I can't wait for it to get back, adding all that stuff at once should be like having a new car
. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like also. Anyway, over the summer I plan on having the heads done as well. My question is regarding fuel intake. At what power level and at what point should I upgrade my stock injectors? I think the 93 injectors are a bit smaller than later year lt1's. I'd say all said and done, my car will have 345-360 rwhp. What size injectors would be good for that level of power?

Will do. I am gonna run at the track on Firebird Day at Englishtown on April 9 and I will post results. Will not be on drag radials, I am just going to see what my trap speed will be to make sure I am making appropriate power. Eventually I'll upgrade the tires. Also will be running my stock 3.23 gears, want to see how they are with the cam before deciding on upgrading.
Soon as I get my car back(should be no later than tues or weds), I am going to get my digitial camera and take a movie of it idling and whatever else anyone wants me to post about it.

Re: Getting 224/230 cam installed...
I installed that cam last summer. I have a 93 also with the M6 and 3.23's. When I did cam I put in some 24# injectors (94up). We have 22# in our 93's. Anyway without the 58mm, 30# injectors and the MSD I ran a 12.78@109. It's a great cam in my opinion. I have no headwork done at all. I just upgraded to some SVO 30# injectors, BBK 58mm TB, and a MSD 6AL. I did all of this because I'm installing a wet kit as well, but, I noticed more upper band power with just these mods. Pcmforless did a awesome job on the tune, i had Alvin desensitize the knock module as well. I'm sure madwolf can do the same for you. I'm hoping for some 11's with the spray!! Also check out the speed density board http://www.speeddensity.org/

12.78 is pretty good and at 109 trap. not too shabby. I guess I would be expecting between a 106-109 trap depending on conditions.
I can't wait to get my car back. my friend said they are having a hell of a time putting in the AS&M headers...said they aren't lining up for ****.
Whats the low-end/midrange power of the cam like? does it feel like it pulls harder all through the rpm range, or mostly the higher range?

The thing that sucks, is i have a 93 auto...so I can't set the shift points through the computer. I will have to manually shift the auto in order to take it up to 6000 rpms, and ill probably only do that when i go to the track. Boy am I glad I didn't go with a bigger cam that needs to rev higher..it would probably be such a pain in the *** to drive around town.

I have the a very simlar setup. I have 224/230 cam with ported and polished intake and heads. I am running 24# injectors. I have FLP longtubes. @otl exhaust. This cam sounds sick. I have poly mounts all around, big mistake car shakes the hell out of you. I did my own tuning with lt1 edit. I have a 2800 stall converter and 3.73 gears. Shift kit in tranny. Skinny and et streets I ran a 12.000 at 118. It was about 80 out that day too. Here is the thread with my times that day. It was a track rental day I setup.

You guys will be pleased with this cam. Since then I have up graded my stall to 3800 and have not been back to the track yet. Will be going soon. Weather is starting to get good here.

118 mph! you must have a hell of a head job on that thing. you have to be near 400 rwhp! and with an auto! i wonder what difference the higher compression pistons made.
Did you get your heads flowed? I'm gonna do heads this summer, and I think I want to go with your exact power setup.

Nice, my friend said they are putting everything back together, hoping it will be done relatively soon.
Re: Getting 224/230 cam installed...
I do not have my heads flowed. My brother-inlaw did them. He is a perfectionist. I know MPH sounds high, but everyones was. I just wonder if the timers where off.
