Question Get heads ported locally or go with Lloyd Elliot?

I have specific things I want done (combustion chambers at a certain cc, polished where I want and not where I don't want it, want certain cfm's at certain lifts, etc). Does he do custom specs or should I look to the nearest expert locals for that kind of stuff?

Those of you who've done business with Lloyd ...what do you think and what kind of results and $$$'s are we talking about?

I will put in a recommendation for LLoyd. He does superb work at a great price. He did a "Stage 1" job on my brother's Z with a hotcam kit and full exhaust. His car was making 340rwhp through an auto with a 2500 stall and a slight bit lean up top. So obviuosly those heads at a very conservative head job are making really good power.
And take my word for it, that car MOVES. His car with those heads and the baby LT4 hotcam will pull all through the RPM range.

i was at loyds shop yestarday. and i seen the valve job he has done on his heads (by another person not loyd) the valve job was aboslutly amazing. alot of people dont see there valve becuase the heads most of the time come back assmebled. you could stand and talk to him for about a week and just be overwhelmed by his knowlegde.

hes a great guy, he dont try to feed you a line of crap like most people. he tells you what he can do and what he dont recomend and why.

you are going to have a hard time finding a ported that will and CAN port to your specs. no offence but if you know what you want why dont you do it yourself. these guys no what valves work best for low lift numbers and how to cut the shortside for best mid lift numbers. loyd has been porting heads sence he was 14 years old (working with his dad). my advice would be to call loyd and tell him what cam your running and see what he can do.

these guys like loyd have years experince. they have forgoten more than you and i will ever know about heads.

he will do my work for sure.

ill tell you how straight forward he is. i called him about 2 weeks ago and ask him what kind of valve job i need. and he gave me his specs for the valve job (becuase i dont know what i need). well i took the spec for the valve job to my machine shop (very reputable) so i took them to loyd and he told me that i would not be satified with the numbers becuase of the port job was not what he recomended. so i stop payment on the check for the machine shop. well he showed me what a unported heads with his valve job looks like. and told me why it should be like this. and it made all the sence in the world. now he could have said ok not to to hurt my feelings or something. but then i would not the happy with the performance of the heads. but he told me the truth. so i could get it taken care of.

needless to say recomend him. highly just from talking to him.

just send your heads to him and tell him what cam your running and let take care of you.
