GEN 2 4.3 V8 questions

are the crank main and rod journals the same on the 4.3 gen 2 as the 5.7 gen 2?

no the gen 2 v8 4.3 in the caprices i know everything about the 4.3 v6 i cnat find any bearing specs on alldata at work about the l99 4.3 v8 in the caprices.

Yes it is the same. I know someone who put the L99 creank and rods in a LT1 block with LT1 stock pistons, the rod length difference balances out the stroke difference. In the end it was not worthwhile but was a fun project for the guy.

The stock LT1 crank will take more RPMs than the pcm can dish out anyway so there is no point to destroking unless it is to meet some sort of calss racing rules.

the whole purpose to do this is i have a gen 1 sbc 1 peace rear main seal i want to destroke to a 302 throw on some vortec heads and put a 5 speed behind it for my 87 lowrider just for a daily driver something fun and different nothing performance oriented
