Phil, I know you know your stuff from what I have read on this board over the years. But I am pretty skeptical that a stock casting can support added cubic inches. I am a big beliver in overkill on the heads (I was thinking about running AFR220s on the 355 I am building). However, if there is anyway to make the stock castings work I wouldn't see a benefit in paying the extra do-re-me ( ) for an AFR head.

Ken, I'm talking about #'s off of an industry standard dynojet so that we can compare the results with other real world results.

that was subtle

Is an LT1/LT4 head worth puting on a 383/396..allot of people say the LT1/4 heads just can't surport the cube's...to make the big power...

Steve - I probably will. I was going to run some 215rr's on the 357, but I may just throw a set of LT1's & an LT1 intake on it & see what can be done with 7000rpm

Shon - Perhaps if you have time, you can come up next time russ does.

Waswa - It'd just depend on the spring (most don't want to run a $500 set), the grind, and how you drove it obviously... so it'll vary. I typically just ask people how much power do you want to make & how long do you want it to last? The answer is usually somewhere along the lines of "as much as possible & forever," so we try to shoot for something in between

KC & Jeremy - It just depends on the app. & what you want out of it. I wouldn't run more than 383cid in many cases, but like everything else, it'll vary depending on what your goals/restrictions/budget is

Kimber - I would think that any honest person, consumers & especially competitors, would value a "level" playing field & standardized method of comparing results. Others simply aren't worried about it at all, which works fine as well

Russ - Don't hurt yourself, buddy

Thanks for the insight thus far

Phil, what about working over the LT1 intake as well and putting up some hard numbers to back up the work!?
like on a H+C car or something that most people could use....not just cars in the 7Krpm range

There are quite a few good streetable heads and cam combos out there making a streetable 400 rwhp. Think he is trying to get a feeler for people wanting the 7000 rpm setups.

Count me in IF you can document the performance. Lots of stories of heads that make 500 rwhp but when you put them on a flow bench or a dyno they somehow fall a bit short.

I'm more into believing when seeing these days and I certainly do hope the project works out.

Yeah if you can prove the setup makes 490-500rwhp legit then you will definately get some buisness but nobody is going to spend $3k for claims of 500rwhp. Do it and people will come!

damn, i really DONT want to port my own heads now!!!

like some of the others have said, if you do it, people will see the results and try it out for sure. i see nothing wrong with 7k rpm's...

Wouldn't think of even trying to sell something like this without some hard #'s .

I guess we'll keep you guys updated if there'd be an interest in it. With the normal workload as well as the influx of orders from the GP, we're pretty busy, but will see what we can come up with once some of this work is out of the way

Thanks for the responses!
