Gauge problem?

I was just wondering if anyone has had a prob with there temp Gauge being off.. My car always says its running about 240 degrees even 260 sometimes but the car doesnt feeling any hotter then when it said it was 180. Plus i read up on it and I remember something about the cooling fans coming on at either 215 or 225? and those pop on when it says its 260 so i think my Gauge is 20 to 30 degrees off. Anyone else have these prob?

Also.. My gas Gauge is wierd, At idel it drops down almost 1/4 of a tank but then when I start moving again it goes back up. I dont know if this is normal for this car or if my Gauges really car screwed up? This is the first Chevy I have even owned, so im still figuring them out.

I believe screwed-up gauges come with the LT1.

Tach. too high, pressure all over the place, fuel past full and suddenly you are empty, etc. JMHO

I think this is normal. When you stop the gas in your tank is level and when you start moving forward the gas in your tank goes to the back of your tank where the lever that controls that gas gauge is located so it will go up or if you are going down a hill, the gas guage will read low because the gas is in front in your gas tank. The same thing happens to every f-body that I have been in. Also, if you go around turns fast the gas will be at one side of the tank that cause the lever to show a very low reading and then will level off again once you are on a straight surface. As long as it says full when you fill up with gas and moves up and down accordingly, Its Normal. But if its is stuck in one place all the time, then you will probably need to get it checked out.

Hope that helps,
Claude
