Gas mileage:: 227/233 VS 230/236..Its that time!!

Well finally im going bigger and im about to order a camshaft.. I got my LT4 and definatly wanted bigger.. I dont want this to happen again. I will be getting either the 227/233 560/569 lift with a 112 lsa or the 230/236 560/569 lift and a 112 lsa.. I have 4.10's and I need more power up top and midrange.. Those are the best cams I have picked out.. I want the 230/236 but im kinda wondering about the gas mileage.. Would it be noticeable? How much am I looking to go down from a hotcam to those. I figure I get about 250 miles per fill up now.. SOOOO how much will it suffer and with each cam?

The 230/236 on 1.6 rockers is .544/.555 lift. With a 6 speed and 4.10's the gas milage should be desent. I have 4.10's and an A4 with a 3500 stall and get 14/15 mpg. With a 6 speed it should be better than that.

I've got a 6 speed car with that same cam, but stock gears and I get anywhere from 12-15, depending on driving. If I get 15 I was really good. Though, the car is on a pig rich mail order tune.. so I'm sure there is room for improvement..

I got 14-15 in the city before the cam and now I get about 12mpg. Don't know any highway numbers. But I love this cam and I would do it again. Idles good and good low end torque. But I wouldn't go bigger in a daily driver.

Whats the idle sound like?? Nice and lopey? Tell it has a huge cam? How about power? How are the brakes? Are they still tight? or do they go to the floor?

Thumbs up

230/236 on a 112 here. 19-20 mpg on the highway 15-16 around town.

Cam sounds good I get alot of comments about how the car sounds and looks from other drivers with at stoplights.

Power opinion is in sig. I have no problems with vacuumn and brakes.

Yep got ported/worked heads. I would say power comes on with this cam at 2500-3000 rpm all the way to 6500 rpm.

Let me put it this way. While waiting in line of cars side by side going to the NW nationals in Seattle and when I pulled into the parking area I had two different people come walking up to me asking me if that was MY car loping back behind them. They said they were looking around for the TUBBED car!

Yeah it lopes and sounds bad. People aways stop and look/listen to my car shaking their heads saying these cars aren't supposed to sound like that!
