Gas
I run 92 Octane or higher. Anything lower, I get a pinging noise. I have heard of others running lower octane without any loss of performance or noise. It usually goes that higer compression engines need higher octane gas.
Well, on the gas gauge, you see the words: "Premium Fuel ONLY". Its better to be safe than sorry, the gas burns cleaner and converts more energy than lower octane, and you can be POSITIVE that no knock will occur in an otherwise working engine.
I've always ran 93, and if I could get higher I'd buy that.

I run premium only. after talking to the guy that has built the last five motors for my family he was telling me about how the chemical formula for gas has changed and is continuing to change and although it is supose to burn "cleaner" if your engine is older than 99 or so anything less than premium can do serious damage. I havn't looked into it myself yet but I will take his word for it.
93 or higher.
93 is my usual fill up, but when I have some spare cash, there's a 97 pump in town and I fill up with that. MAN, SHE REALLY LOVES IT! Wish I could run that all the time.
BTW--custom PCM programming in my car.

What grade is gas rated at most of the time? I mean what is the difference between regular, super and premium, I always thought premium was usually like 92 octane. Never really payed attention though, since I haven't had to fill my firebird up yet, because it was in storage a week after I got it.
i didnt know they made less than 93 octane premium. here in FL
our regular is 87, our midgrade is 89, and our premium is 93.
there is also a gas station in town that sells 104 octane race fuel since we do have alot of street rods around here on the weekend that need to refuel before going home. I like to mix a few gallons of 104 octane with the 93 octane occasionally. WoW what a difference.

When all the people who are familiar with LT1s have the first reaction of saying, "wow, u have a strong LT1" one of the reasons i tend to agree with this statement is because i have never run anything but premium 93. With the compression of our 350, it burns a lot more efficiently.
