Gains from porting stock heads w/stock cam?

I was thinking about having my friend port my heads on my car as well as the intake and TB.

I dismissed the heads/cam idea cause i would prefer to save my money for a bike and my paintballing hobby

Just curious what kinds of gains i would see.

Mods are in my cardomain. basically all bolt-ons and a 150 shot.

Yeah but i decided not to go through with it. I really want another bike. And if i did the heads/cam i was gonna do the bottom end as well, maybe next summer. But i want the bike this winter.

I was wondering the same thing. LS1 guys do it all the time on stock cams and have impressive gains. Im just wondering if any1 has done it with the lt1 and all the bolt ons...

I'd also like to know what kind of numbers could be obtained by porting the heads while keeping the stock cam.

Not many people do it, but you will get more than 10hp. How much? I don't know. but its definitely more than 10hp.

I could definently see more than 10 hp when considering how crappy our stock heads are.

Maybe i should give it a shot?

Re: Gains from porting stock heads w/stock cam?

We should take bets on the gains Id bet atleast 15-20rwhp

Hell my car would gain that just from a little tuning 10.3 and 10.8 a/f ratios last time i dynoed

thats what i like to hear. hell if i listened to everyone else i would still have my stock throttle body, no electric water pump, a cold air intake instead of using my ss airbox, no true duals and i would have sold my shorties for long tubes. but it all seems to be working so i'm not changing.

Funny you mention the shorties, cause with my Mac Mids i was making more power than guys with LT's and more mods than me

As for your true dual comment, are you for or against true duals? I got confused.

And i really really want an new TB, preferably a monoblade

Re: Gains from porting stock heads w/stock cam?

Speed and Machine in Everett Wa ported my friends heads, intake, and exhaust manifolds and he took it to the track and pulled a 13.3 @ 106mph...

Other mods include CAI, borla, AF, Maf, off-road pipes.

If a monkey isn't doing the port job and you have them do your intake and exhaust manifolds, the results will be well worth it!

You will get the best results if they back cut your valves too
