Fuel pump change now flames under car!!!

Help. I changed my fuel pump b\c the pressure was low. Now the pressure is back up but when I rev the engine im shooting out fire ***** from under the car. I had to put the hoses on wrong. I had no clue what to do with the ones by the filler neck. Anyone have any advice. I really dont want to blow the car up with me in it.

you kinda need to be more speficic about where they are coming from. The tank, exhaust, what?

it obvious that there is a leak of fuel onto the exhaust pipe, so check under there for fuel leaks. I mena thats the only thing that could really ignite fuel uinder there

Yeah I figured that its a leak but I cant find where. The only hoses that I had trouble placing were the hoses by the filler neck. There is a canister there and 2 hoses. Only 1 hose can go to the canister. I was hoping that someone had experience changing the pump and maybe had a diagram or directions as to where the hoses go.

uhhh...

Is it just me, or does this whole problem seem extremely dangerous??

You need to find the problem before you start that car again. Get under there and have a friend turn the key to run, but not start it. See if you can see fuel leaking out or something else...maybe an electrical short sparking and igniting the gas or something.

But just be careful....you don't want to mess around with gas like that! There is no "reset button" if you blow yourself up, or more importantly...that Camaro.

If you had your lines hooked up wrong, you may have pumped gasoline into your charcoal cannister that's beside your filler neck. If that happened, I would try to remove that and drain it somehow. Just be careful because gasoline vapor is extremely flamable.

WOW... I am scared just reading this. Make sure you find the problem before you ever start your car again.

For that matter...disconnect that battery now.

This reminds me of the story about the guy that had a shop put in a new fuel pump and something was messed up and it blew up with him driving and killed the owner.

So be careful.

if its going to leak, it will do it when it primes...

just go from off to on (w/o startng it) a few times and look for gas again
