Kinking those lines could damage the lines. What fuel line cover. The one on the shock tower.

Never heard of replacing the cover, it must have looked awful! Some just go with braided stainless lines at that point. With fittings you can route them differently making the engine bay look much better (but it will cost you).

Yes, the plastic cover over the lines that enter the engine bay through the driver's side fender.

You bet it looked awful. Sometime, before I got the car, it must have gotten very hot under the hood. The black plastic cover had just oozed down, looking like a Salvador Dali painting (you know, the drooping clock). My car is almost bone stock, so braided lines just don't fit the theme.

I'm guessing the best way to replace the cover would have been to disconnect the lines below the fender and route them back through the other end. I haven't seen that side of things, but I bet the bend at the fuel rails is not present at under the car. How difficult a job would that be?

Are you talking about the loom that goes over the plastic fuel line that has that yellow tape over it? After you disconnect from the intake manifold it should just slide off. Disconnecting from under the car and removing the fender liner etc. is a major PITA and not needed IMO.

That is the one I was talking about. I managed to slip the first hose through, but the second one would not fit (because of the bent fitting on the end). I did manage to get both threaded to the factory split (for the vent line). I then split it to the end along the bottom edge. You can't tell at all. I'll post a photo tonight.

FWIW, the cover I got from the member here had labels that were a bit faded. I may try and get my hands on a better one, if possible. I sliced the ones off my melted cover and re-used them. It's not perfect, but waaaaay better than it was.
