Fuel injectors leaking?

Last couple days i've been having trouble getting the car started. It won't start the first try but it will start the 2nd or 3rd try.

I hooked a fuel pressure guage up to the rail and primed it...this is what i got:

10:13 = 43psi (Right after primed with key off)
10:24 = 35psi
10:34 = 25psi
10:46 = 18psi
10:55 = 15psi

Does that sound about right for a leaking injector? This weekend i'm going to pull the rail off and see if any are leaking when i prime it. I'm busy the next couple days.

Re: Fuel injectors leaking?

When you find the injectors aren't leaking you'll discover that it's the fuel pump check ball leaking allowing fuel to drain back from the rail to the tank. Either change the pump or install an inline check valve.

I don't think you have a low fuel pressure issue if it takes 11 minutes for the pressure to drop 8 psi. Your pressure may be too high causing flooding. Was the 43 PSI with the vacuum line on or off the fuel pressure regulator? Try holding the gas pedal to the floor (flood mode) and see if it starts better.

yep you have a problem. it should stay at around 40 psi all the time. when your car starts, does it miss. if your injector is leaking fuel into a cylinder it will miss when it first starts up. but i am guessing its your fuel pump.

I switch the key on/off several times before i tried to start it to help build the pressure and all that but it didn't help. That's what was kind of steering me away from a fuel pump. The more i think about it, the more i think it probably is the fuel pump. The injectors aren't old. Installed about a year ago. I just came back from advance auto parts, they are overnighting me a fuel pump.

Line on. I tried starting it floored and it didn't really help one time but another time it did.

It lopes due to the cam but that's it. Also, I'm not having any performance/power/fuel miliage issues with it.
