fuel injector o-rings

okay, i need to change out my o-rings on my injectors. i can hear i got a leak in one of them. ive never had the oportunity to do this before so if anyone has any advice, please lend some. like how to make sure there is no pressure on them and how to bleed it off if there is. do i need any tools to take them off or can i just pop them out. any other precautions? thanks guys.

open the gas cap to relieve the pressure. You might need the gm fuel line release tools...They are $10 at sears. the just follow the first few instructions on the intake manifold gasket write up.

When the injectors come out, you'll see the o-rings...it's pretty easy. 30 minutes, unless you take your time looking over the injectors.

When you take off the gas cap you dont relieve any pressure at all. To do it the right way you must relieve the pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rails. It looks like a tire valve. Just push down on the valve and the gas will come out....have some rags handy.

Then unbolt the 4 fuel rail bolts and give it a tug, it maybe on there good, keep on pulling it will come. From there just pull out the injectors and replace the o rings.

You dont have to but you can also disconnect the fuel lines from the rail itself by using a fuel rail disconnect tool. Its just a little plastic disk....you dont have to but some like too. If you dont want to use it just flip the rails around with the lines still attached.

whoo...

are the "o" rings the little rubber things at the end of the injectors? Do the just pull off? WHere can you find them...do you have to go to gm or can you go to autozone or oreileys?

Yeah the are rubber rings. There is one at the top of the injector and one towards the bottom. I know NAPA for sure has them...any normal autostore should carry them...

I would say that depends on which one is leaking.

I have not messed with mine, but I'm thinking they are different.
