Fuel Injector installation

How difficult will it be to swap out an FMU w/ stock 24 lbers for 42 lb SVO injectors? I didn't install the FMU myself. Will it be that difficult? Is there a good write-up on fuel injector instals anywhere?

They are easy to install, but you will need your ecm reprogrammed for them.

The injectors are not difficult to install. I did mine when the heads and intake manifold were off. It was not a fun install (very redundant) but easy nevertheless. It takes about 30-45 minutes. All you do is slide them off the rail once you unbolt it and then undo the clips, put the new ones on and redo the clips. easy!

***edit***you need your ECU reprogrammed

If you have a compressure blow what ever dirt that is around the injectors. Also be carefull with the clips very easy to drop and lose.I didnt reuse the clips that go the intake because they are a pita and you dont relly need them the bolts holding down the fuel rail want let them go anywhere.Goodluck with it

okay I unbolted the rails and I took the clips off the injectors... how do I get the injectors out? Do the rails come off? Can you tell I've never done injectors before (lol)?

Thumbs up

Yea injectors will come up with the fuel rail. Remember to take off the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator, also remove your gas cap to take off system pressure. You'll need to get fuel line disconnects to or you'll never get those off.hope that helps

Just pull them up they have that rubber grommet on the end of them that makes a tight seal with some elbow grease you shoulkd be able to pull out the injectors.

I see, thanks much. I didn't really know what I was doing so I didn't want to break anything. I'll yank the bastards up tomorrow.
