Fuel injector cap, suggestions?
Fuel injector cap, suggestions?
I took my fuel rail off today and the injector on my #8 cylinder was missing the cap at the bottom, the part that goes into the intake. This is a hard plastic, is it worth taking off the intake and looking for this or do you think the engine will pass it somehow? Or maybe it already has? Do I need to replace the whole injector or can I just purchase the end cap? Thanks for any replies.

Tough choice...To be on the save side, I'd probably pull the intake just in case it's in there. I'm not sure what, if any damage it would do. I've gotten injector caps from my local Napa before. You can also get injector kits off Ebay for dirt cheap with new screens, caps, and O rings.
Re: Fuel injector cap, suggestions?
Thanks for the replys. This is the second time I have pulled off the fuel rail. I changed the FPR 2 weeks ago and messed up the seals on the top of the injectors, so Im doing it again. I would rather not remove the intake but need to know if anyone has ever experienced this? Do you really think it been chewed up? It seems like a hard plastic. Thanks.

1-It fell in the port
2-The intake valve chewed it up and let it in the cyl.
3-Then it got it's *** torched when the cyl fired.
4-It got spit out the exhaust valve into the pipe.
5-See Ya

Lol, thanks dude, point taken. Im a little gun shy because I swallowed the screw off my ram air setup a few years ago.The sound of a spun bearing is awful. I appreciate your help and will repair the injector and fuel rail tomorrow.
