fuel economy

I'm looking to buy a late 90's camaro and trying to decide LT1 vs. LS1. I've been told the LT has much worse mpg. I was wondering what actual owners are seeing. Thanks.

I have been seeing an average of around 19mpg and that is with hard driving. On my last tank of gas including my runs at the track I got 19.5 mpg. The best I have gotten so far is 22 mpg and that is with plugs and wires that have 99,000 miles on them....

if you look at the epa ratings, an LS1 f-body should avg. like 2MPG better... of course, maybe its more fun to see a thread fill up with people reporting how many miles a tank they get

LT1 pretty much stock other than magnaflow muffler which didnt change anything

16.5 -17.5 short distance driving and i like to get on it a lot just a habit i guess

24-25 with about half the tank on the highway 200 miles worth and then the rest of the tank sorta mixed.

Havent made any full tank trips on the highway tho.

I get some popping when i rev up so i think im in need of doing my plugs and wires.

I just tested the other day my mpg on the highway, I filled up the tank and went driving on I64 West and back, for a total of 95 miles and it only used 3.3 gallons. About 30 mpg with the little bit of city it took to get to the gas station, I think thats very impresive for an 8 cylinder, of course that was cruising at 75mph in 6th gear at about 1700 rpm's.

with my abusive right foot and about 75% highway travel, I average 19-21 MPG. Straight highway I have pulled 27MPG and the car still has the original plugs/wires/O2 sensors in it @54000 miles as far as I know.

If your concerned about fuel mileage, get yourself a 6 speed either way. You really can't beat cruising on the highway at 80MPH and still be under 2000 RPM
