Re: frustrated and need help

The weep hole is on the back/bottom of the pump. What you have pictured is one of the bleeder screws which looks like it has broken off.

Close enough. It's at the bottom of your pic.

You'll want to fix the bleeder screw. You should be able to get them from Napa.

Re: frustrated and need help

Given the mileage on the engine, it would be a wise preventive maintenance move to replace the water pump. I'd grab a new AC Delco unit from Summit or RockAuto.com. You can also get a remanufactured unit if you wish(it would be cheaper than a new AC Delco one).

Either way, it would be better to put one of the above on than to put the old one back on.

Re: frustrated and need help

i understand its a smart thing to change it...but ive alredy dished out a whole bunch of money on the opti and everything else so id ont really want to spend the money if i dont have to....looking at the picture can any1 tell whether or not i need to change it? it doesn't really have the tell-tale signs such as the rust or the scaling from what i can see...

Re: frustrated and need help

A little discoloration around the weep hole is normal. What you can't tell from a picture is how smoothly and quietly the w/p turns when you spin it by hand. It will make some noise, but if it is real rough or difficult to turn or the bearing seal on the back is loose or torn, it should be replaced. The bleeder in the fuzzy pic does not look broken to me. http://shbox.com/1/bleeders.jpg
