Front End Squeak

First time poster.. go easy I was unable to decide if this was an LT1 Engine problem or Suspension..anyway here goes my problem:

I have a stock 96 Z28 and my car has a very irritating and very embarassing front end squeak. When I'm in a close corridor I can hear the squeak bouncing off the walls and it sounds as if the center caps of my stock rims are rotating and causing a squeak. Now I'm not positive on this but to the best of my knowledge that is what it sounds like..the squeak is distorted somewhat when going over speed bumps as well and I can hear rattling from what again, to me, sounds like my caps.

If anyone had a similar problem or might know something else that could be causing it please let me know..

It's a constant squeak squeak squeak squeak while driving and appears to be only in the front end.

Very well could be just a center cap. Best thing to do to find out is take them off and drive it. If it goes away...... If not, Could be alot of different things.

I've thought about taking the caps off but never have and that could be a very simple solution to the problem..maybe..if it isn't the caps than I'm out of ideas!

nah, you're never out of ideas untill you run out of parts to check! Definately take off the caps, will only take a minute. If that doesn't fix it, it could be a number of things in the suspansion, but definately something that rotates judging from how you describe it. If the caps aren't the problem, pull the frnt wheels off and check for anything that has excessive wear or play, they could be the culprit. If you're uncertain about the suspension stuff, find someone who knows about it and take it to them. It's just kinda hard to diagnose squeaks and rattles on the internet.

Thanks I will give that a shot.. and I am not to technically inclined about F-Bodies or their suspension so I'll most likely have someone else diagnose it if worse comes to worse.

You've been a big help, thanks alot!

Re: Front End Squeak

Well a small update.. I took the caps off and drove to my dealership (they had to do a few things to the car anyway but that is another story) and I didn't hear the squeaking..but I heard a squeak when I hit a bump in the road this morning so it must be bushings in the car. They told me to take silicone lube spray and spray them down..they said I had alot of squeaking in the front end..haha
