My friend has a 93 geo merto front wheel drive with front disk brakes and is stranded and I need your expert advice .....I know that this forum is for camaros. I have a camaro and I am on here all the time so this is the only place that I could think of to get advice . here is the simptoms .....he was on his way to work and heard and felt a thunp comming from his left front wheel and when he was a couple of blocks from where he works he started to hear grinding noises. thought it might be brake pads , took off the wheel and inspected the pads and found that they are still good. also he found small metal shavings. He found that the hub has a lot of slop in it as well. what could be causing this ? Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

 

wheel bearing...

Only thing that I can think of.

Its the only thing spinning back there..

If there is slop in the hub then i'd almost be sure its the wheel bearing.
*edit* my bad i thought u said from the rear...??? its late....

axle / halfshaft or wheel bearing.

 

Sounds like his half axle to me.(connects the wheel to the tranny.)
