recentaly bought my first z.i have put on msd ign.,
3"cut out w/ 4" conver.,160 thermo.,k&n ,sway bar,
sturt.brace,taylor 8mm.wiresw/ngk55. not alot of
upgrades yet but smoked 02 mitsu.eclipse.What are the
free mods i read about? how much is the hot cam kit?
any help would be great.

First off you better beat an eclipse unless it has an upgraded turbo, just kidding. Anyway you need to start with the basics. I see you have a K&N, but do you mean whole intake of just filter. The whole unit would be better. They cost about $200 dollars and install in minutes. I guess you dont need a catback as long as you have a cutout. The hotcam kit cost $475 but if you want someone to install it you'll proably pay $250-500 in labor. There are plenty of sites in here to show you how to install one yourself. If your doing a hotcam though you should get headers. Espically Longtubes. This will really let the cam roar. This board will tell you everything you need to know. Espically if you use the search button.

 

Make sure you do plenty of research before you decide to do any of the "free mods" you hear so much about. A heavily debated one is removing the screen from your MAF and porting it. I've done it and have had no problems, but I probably would not do it again. The only "free mod" I've seen that people generally agree on is doing the throttle body bypass.

 

the tb bypass is definatly a worth while mod...specially since it's so cheap (only free if you have 95-7).

another good hp booster for the obd1 cars is a fuel pressure regulater. www.ws6.com found about 15 hp from this, but the "learning ability" of the obd2 computer negates this gain quickly. but you should be ok if you have the 93 that is part of your screen name.

TB Bypass I haven't done it yet but will soon.
MAF screen removal porting is also easy and cool mod if you have the tools but my links aren't working for those.
