Found out my solution to my oil pressure drop!

well i belive the oil driveshaft broke. Cause i took off my my oil filter and found a bunch of plastic shavings brown and black in it.

Good thing is i have warrenty on engine. So my mechanic is going to fix it tom.

He said to fix it is to take off intake and it sits in the back of the block near the tunnel valley.

Still able to drive, but cant go WOT.

has anyone had this problem before?

DO NOT drive the car like that, get it fixed.
Debris in the crankcase and filter is a very bad thing.
If it is the oil pump drive, it could go out completly at any moment.
You could go from a bad pump drive to a few spun bearings.

Re: Found out my solution to my oil pressure drop!

well the thing is driving it normally its ok...

I started it and the pressure was at around 75-80 cold. didnt let it warm up but recently it was staying at 40-45 psi while driving and 20psi at idle when warm!

but WOT its bad. I think it will be ok to drive it to the shop like a grandma and if at anytime the pressure drops ill get someone to tow it.

it's not so much the pressure problem, it's the debris left in the oil that could **** up some bearings man.

well i mean then i should just drain the oil then huh and put new oil in it or what?

After he fixes it what should he do rip apart the whole motor and take out each piece?

Re: Found out my solution to my oil pressure drop!

any large pieces will be in the lifter valley, smaller pieces, its up to you, I would probably pull the drain plug, and just pour oil in try to flush anything in the pan out

, are you running thick oil or a high volume pump?

if yes, that is what broke the drive(plus age) I remember some place selling a metal piece to keep the drive in the hole

More Preformance sells the metal cap as a safety to keep the drive from shooting out the hole in case the plastic holddown breaks. I think it's about $20.00.

Don't drive it unless ya want to buy another new engine.

Re: Found out my solution to my oil pressure drop!

I would get a case or 2 of some cheapy oil and pour it into the lifter valley making sure I covered all of it. With the drain plug off of course. Replace the pump drive, then buy a couple oil filters and run the motor for a few minutes. Drain the oil again and replace the filter with a new one. Drive it for a couple days(or miles, drive it slow and easy) and change the oil and filter again. Dont forget to fill the oil filter with new oil every time you change it before you put it on. It may seem like a lot of work, oil, and filters, but its better than redoing the engine.

No
Especially if ya don't drive it till is checked

They will probably pull the pan to check it anyway or they should if they want to know about any damage.
