Lightbulb Found Great Deal on Z-28 Rear, worth a swap?

I have a 95 w/ what I'm sure is a 2.73 gear 10 bolt. Now as some of you may know I just traded the 3.4 v6 for a 350 SBC. I have a chance to buy a rear from a Z28 (also '95). It has rear disc's where mine has drums.... Now the guy at my yard wants 200$ dollars for it, and it looks to be in great shape. (just a lil rusty, natch! )

Now w/ my engine swap I did, would it be a advantage to swap rear ends? Does the Z rear have a better gear ratio for my 350? and how hard would it be to make the two rear discs functional? Just need a new booster?

Any info is helpful. Thanks alot again guys.

If it was a 6 speed car, it has 3.42's. If it was an auto it could possibly have 3.23's... If you have an auto, either one would be better than what you have but the 3.42's would be perfect... do some research.

Do not pay more than $50.00 for a lousy 7.5" 10 bolt. They are the weakest rears GM ever made. I bought a 8.5 in 10 bolt in February for $29.95. The z's usually had a 3.23 ratio. Better than what you have but not worth 200 even with the discs. For the disks, you might need to change the lines everything else will fit fine

Check the gears in the rear you might buy. They could be 2.73s as well.

TA girdle with stud kit might help a little. but of course a 12 bolt rear end would be even better, and more costly. the rear disc brake pads are so small, i dont know how much more stopping power they'd give over your current drum brakes. I'd save up and put in a 12 bolt when the 10 bolt brakes.
