Forged pistons and rods?

What would you guys suggest? It's still gonna be a stock 350 stroke so nothing special. I'm building the motor to be ran with nitrous (at least a 125 shot) I dont know what brands are good, so any information is helpful.

Re: Forged pistons and rods?

Look into Probe Industries stuff www.probeindustries.com

They make some of the toughest pistons out there.. They have been making ford stuff for years and the mustang guys are really happy with them. They have been doing a lot of chevy stuff for a while, and they make a really good product...

If you call them, Ask for Tim and tell him Mike Leaf with the green Camaro that almost got hired sent you.. (I already had another job when he called and offered the position to me...)

Good Luck!

Re: Forged pistons and rods?

we had a probe forged piston on a mustang come apart because the valve notch was machined to close to the edge of the piston. the car was barely making over 400rwhp at the time. i personally think they are pieces of ****. the owner of the car that it came apart in will agree. it cost him about $1500 in repairs. id personally go with SRPs.

your stock rods will be fine with arp rod bolts (as strong as the chinese 5140 rods) unless you want to spend the bucks on 4340 stuff. but with a stock crank i wouldnt bother going 4340. the cheap chinese 4340 stuff is going for about $425 for a set of 8. the good american 4340 stuff is going for between $500-700 depending on what you get. the $500 lunati 4340 street street race rod is rated to about what your stock rods are will take.

SRP/JE or Diamond are my choices for pistons. There are other good ones though.

Stock Crank and polish the journals
Scat I beam rods
Mahle PowerPak

The Mahle's are a better piston and come with rings. In the end you spend about the same money on them as a set of SRP's and rings but you get a piston that's higher quality and takes less labor to install.

what do you guys think about Eagle rods? What can my motor hold (nitrous wise) with Eagle I beam rods and SRP pistons?

200 shot safely on the stock crank.

Me too. SRP/JE makes a great product at a reasonable price. I'm not too familiar with the Diamond product though.
