Followup to Brake Problem after Hotcam Kit! ABS Help.
Thanks to Predator in the advanced section I've come to a conclusion that the ABS unit needs to be rehomed, but that brings me to a problem that I knew exsisted, but didn't need to fix it until now.
Rehoming is done through a diagnostic handheld computer. The computer handles 2 seperate systems in my car, 1. Engine and 2. ABS System.
Now the problem I've had forever is no communication from the Scanner to the ABS system, once I can communicate I could bring up the codes and possibly have a direct answer to the brake problem!
So before trakcing down wires in a schematic I was wondering if anyone out there has been down the same path with the No communication problem with the ABS system????
Thanks to everyone, have a Happy New Year!

More than 80% of most electrical preblems is a bad connection. Check all your connections and grounds pretaining to that specific circuit. Check the obvious first. Pull the connectors off and look for any signs of corrosion. Hope this helps a lil bit.
I had problems with my EBTCM and ended up replacing it. You may have a problem with this as well, and thus be unable to establish communication. I know I had an ABS light on continuously but couldn't get any codes to show. Turned out that the unit was completely fried.
You can find it if you stand on your head in the driver's footwell and look waaaaaay up. It is the little Aluminum box measures about 4 by 6 inches.

I called it the EBCM, what's the T stand for anyhow?
Anyhow I replaced that already. Light went off. 5 minutes later, it came back on, also to note the brakes were still bad after the replacement...
I think I'll just have to check the wiring...
Thx for your input Janny.

The way I discovered that my EBTCM was bad, was by running a test on all the wheel speed sensors. All sensors tested fine on all but one channel. My right side front channel didn't register at all. So, I used the wiring from my left front wheel to check it out and turned out that that that sensor was ok. Next I checked the wiring for continuity, and it was OK that left only the computer module, which wasn't showing any codes. Only logical conclusion to draw was that the computer was bad. Replaced ti and problem solved.
I realize, this is not an identiical situation to yours, but it does demonstrate that the computer and its codes are not necessarily the best or only source of info when diagnosing problems.
Hope you are able to identify and solve your problem soon. Sounds like you have a real "detective" mission on your hands.
Then I only have a EBCM
No communication after the new EBCM either...
Here's a key factory, maybe. I think the LF hubbearing is howling @ 45 MPH so I think it's time to replace it, but was wondering...that probly would trigger the ABS light also, right?
Anyhow, I know it's unrelated to the sh*tty brakes, but didn't know if it would cause a communication problem. Probly not. Other than that, it does look like I have to investigate...
One last note, During the Hotcam install, I'm pretty sure the speed/abs (They're the same right?) was unplugged. It was under hood against the driver's side tower, but all the way down almost by the k-member. So I plugged it in... You think I should unplug it and see what happens???
I bought it like that, so maybe they knew something I dont??? They usually do
Well thanks for everyone's help, wish me luck!
