Flywheel removal

Want to make sure I'm not losing my mind. I am in process of removing the flywheel on my 30th SS; all six bolts in the center of the flywheel are removed, but the flywheel won't come off the block. Moderate pulling and tapping on it hasn't gotten it to budge. Is there anything else I need to loosen/remove? Do I just need to put a wood board against it and bang harder?

Re: Flywheel removal

Besides the bolts, there's probably only some corrosion holding it in place. If I recall correctly, there is a locator pin on the back of the crankshaft flange, which can get sticky.

Try harder.

Re: Flywheel removal

Yup, it came off with more effort. I had to ram it about 10 times from the oil filter side with a 2x4. Well that's just more of the same with this car. Everything has been that difficult.

Thanks for the advice.
