You have the 97 SS 2OTL exhaust.. so did you remove "the cone" from your exhaust? The cone was brought in for the later 97 SS model exhausts because the original one was too loud.. if you have it it wont be loud at all.. if you don't.. then putting FLP long tubes on won't make it much louder, you'll just get a more agressive tone.

I run this setup with the offroad pipes. It is only loud when you keep your foot in it. I have never been pulled over for the noise, though I keep it at low RPM's when I see law enforcement. It is an intimidating sound to say the least.

SLP 2OTL exhaust? I don't get that.. he has a 97 SS correct? I thought all 97 SS models came with the stock 2OTL exhaust. Was it just an option for the SS upgrade?

It was an option on the SS.You can buy it thru SLP.Mine with Hookers sounds downright sick.I get a lot of compliments on it. I would imagine with FLPs it would be similar.

The FLP/TOTL system isn't as loud as you would think. It is fairly tame at idle until you get on it really good, then it screams at higher RPM,s. I have the offroad pipes on mine and it is noticably louder without the cats. The system overall sounds great. There is absolutly no drone at all. When I first installed it, my car did have a small amount of rasp and popping on deceleration but for some reason it has disapeared and sounds great.

After I finished my heads and cam I ran the car with an open Y-pipe just to see how loud it was. When I put the TOTL on I was really suprised at how quiet the exhaust was even with it being a straight through muffler.

My car came stock with the SLP dual/dual.
I think all 96 SS's came with the TOTL.

Hey MadneSS

My car is the perfect match to yours. They could be twins. Sorry to steal your ideal where to put the scanmaster. Also how did you get your 2otl so shinny. Mine is real dull look. Just had my heads ported and polished, Almost have the same cam 224/230.

I know what an ORP is but I can't seem to figure out what 2OTL is?

Droff,
It's the '2 On The Left' catback from SLP. In other words twin drivers side exits, nothing on the passenger side.

I don't have FLP's, i have midlengths, but i'd imagine that it would be very similar. I don't think anyone could tell the difference between hooker LTs and FLP's, but maybe the well trained ear could distinguish between FLPs and SLP midlengths. Of course the cam selection would probably make a larger difference. Anyways there are soundlclips on my webpage. I added a bullet muffler as an ORP because it was a lil 'tinny' without the cat.

Another happy person with FLP headers and the SLP 2OTL here I'm running it with the cats and it's not that loud, but you can definitely hear it inside the car driving around.
