Flowmaster won't Fit!!!!!!

Flowmaster won't Fit!!!!!!
Well, on the way home from school, I decided to swing by Ramchargers to pick up a flowmaster 80. I got the one that has a 3" inlet. The guy there said it would fit. I get home, pull off my old muffler, and compared inlet sizes on both mufflers with a ruler. the stock one is 2 1/2"!!!?!? I thought 93 and above had 3" inlet?!?! errrrrrrr
