flexplate ?
flexplate ?
i posted a similar question over in the drivetrain section but didnt get any response so i'll try here.
my new rotating assembly is internally ballanced with itself only. so that means i need a neutral balanced flexplate, correct? ive heard of grinding the weight off of the stock flexplate and having it checked for neutral balance but after going through the trouble of all that id rather just buy a new one seeing as im finding them for around $70.
my questions are:
1. what does counter balanced for 1 piece main seal engines mean?
2. do 1 pc and 2pc seal flexplates have a different bolt pattern?
3. what other kind of info do i need to know when looking for a new flexplate?

will an externally balanced flexplate work?
Re: flexplate ?
no it wont. Externally balanced means it has a weight on it, those are designed to cancel out the vibration of an unbalanced motor by pulling in the opposite direction the motor is pulling while they are turning.
Your motor is balanced which means it wont be pulilng in any direction, and an a weighted flywheel will be pulling it all over the place.

NO,well yes if ya get it "0" balanced which the shop should have had the balancer and plate during balancing.
