First time at the track what do you think?

okay first off I have a 96 TA. The day we ran was 100 degrees and no track prep. Here are my mods a4 car with stock converter and 2.73 gears. LT4 hot cam, eddelbrock headers, borla catback no cats, pcm tuning, CAI, that is about it. I know the gears and converter killed me also i had bald street tires here were the numbers.

rt .32
60 ft 2.435
1/4 14.029
mph 104.2

What does this mean is the car making good power also what could I have run with a 1.9 short time? any hp estimations? remeber the humidity was 85 percent and 100 degrees in Texas.

With that trap speed you should be running about a second faster. Your 60 foot times need work.
Car seems to be making good power but your gears and converter are hurting you.
I think with decent weather and traction you could run 13.30-13.4s all day.

With a better 60' time and that MPH, you're probably capable of 13.4's or so. Hook up, then tell us how you do.

I don't know about 300 horsepower... Are you talking flywheel or at the wheels? Best way to determine horsepower is to put it on the rollers.

The Nittos should help with traction provided the track is decent. The torque converter will certainly add some bite down low. I agree with 13.2-13.4 wil be the likely result. With good air and good traction and good driving perhaps you can even dip into the 12's but I think a lot of thinks need to go right for that to happen.

With your mods you've got to be at least 300 RWHP... The car by itself without the hotcam should be in the ballpark of 280 RWHP, then add the cam to it and you should hit 300 easy.

My 96 Formula with SLP CAI, 160* Thermostat, and TB Bypass went 14.299 on the stock exhaust on a nice cool night. That's with 2.73 gears, stock coverter, and a 2.13 60' time.

My new gears are being installed as we speak and I have new exhaust on the car. No headers yet, but soon.

The killer on your times was the traction, and the weather.

My last run at the track was a 14.6 on a really hot and humid day and the only thing to change was the exhaust. Oh, my posi was slipping badly giving me one wheel peel so I wasn't getting proper acceleration. But everyone that ran with me that day was at least 1/2 second or so off.
