Personally, I think that's a good time since it's your first time at the track...

I'd suggest a shifter and gears.

your times are very good for a first visit to the track! Next, its a question of your tracks evelation...

for example, if you are at sea level, with your mods, you should easily be a low 13 second car...

but again, depending on your area's evelation, you could running perfect for the air density/quality

2.1 60's are very good as well, its gets alot harder to cut sub 2 second short times... especially with a 6 spd...

but if you get gears, have fun! they're absolutely wonderful

You should be running alot better trap speeds than that. Most LT1's trap 98-100mph stock. I would either check some sensors or any other kind of culprits. I ran the times in sig with longtubes, cai, electric water pump and some small other misc bolt ons. That was in 50 degree weather @ 600ft abs. On 75 degree day I trapped 105mph with a few close to 106mph. I would think your traps should be higher. But there have been a few Lt1's that trap 95-96mph stock which is on the lower than average side. Did you get any times before the mods? What are you shifting at?

Nope sorry i dont have any previous times. Im shifting at around 5850 or so. Like i said, i can barely use 4th gear before the end of the track, is this normal, or do you think someone put diff gears in it? My clutch slipped pretty bad on one launch, so its probably slipping under power. Im not sure if it is the stock clutch or not, my car has 77k.

Also my SES light is on, i dont have a scan tool, but im pretty sure its the MAP sensor, shouldnt affect my performance should it? Btw the reason for my SES is the PCM is reading the wrong voltage from the MAP sensor. So i need to replace my PCM.

Yeah i was hoping for alot better times than i got, i was shooting for 13.5...Thx a ton Tyler!

while your all on this subject, I just bought a LT1 97 camaro SS. This is my first 6spd car ever so you can imagine how my drag times are.

I've ran my car 3 times.
best being a

60': 2.470 outside temp: 40F night
1/4: 14.309
TS: 100.50

Any advice how to better my launching?
And what could the car run when I get my launching straight?

Well i got to thinking, i didnt put in a LT4 KM after my header install. Could that affect my times that much? I think i should be running 13.5's if not better, my trap speed is really low. Thx guys, Tyler

Edit: I forgot to mention this was done on ****ty gas 87 octane i know i know i meant to burn it up during the week before i went to the track, and i was gonna put some 93 in. Well I didnt end up using that much fuel during the week. So these times were also done on 87 octane and 3/4 full. If this could have made a big diff plz mention. Thx Tyler

Yes a bad MAP sensor will affect performance. The LT4 KM can also make quite a difference.

If you have a laptop or know someone with one, buy an AKM cable and watch the knock count with a free program. Then get PCMFORLESS or MADWOLF to tune it. PCMFORLESS did my roommates vette for $75 w/unlimited free updates. His LT1 Vette is mostly stock, but he says it pulls better, starts better, and shifts better then ever before (automatic of coarse).

BTW- Stock on 90k old plugs I pulled a 13.9@99 w/2.0 60' and a 9.0 @ 79 in the 1/8th. That is in Dallas though, so altitude doesnt play much of a role in it, but I still think your setup has alot more MPH in it at least.

crappy gas is a deffinate possibilty for a lower time. Go back there with 93!

Isnt premium gas suggested for our cars anyway?
