Unhappy First time track results...

Well i went to the track yesterday morning for the GM vs ford shootout. It was a pretty hot day. It was about 85* outside. My car raceweight with me in it is 3600lbs or 3405lbs without me. Here are my best 3 runs out of 13:

best:
60' 2.188
1/8 8.977
mph 81.645
1/4 13.717
mph 104.270

next best:
60' 2.266
1/8 9.035
mph 81.836
1/4 13.780
mph 104.600

next:
60' 2.260
1/8 9.038
mph 81.477
1/4 13.782
mph 104.166

The rest of my runs wern't as good. I hit 13.8x to 13.9 all day with a few 14.0x. I was having a bunch of crappy 60's. 2.3s, 2.4s. But for my mods my times are bad i think. My mph seems a little low as does my 1/4 time. My friend with the same mods except he has FLP LT's, CSI waterpump, and Pullies. I have a Madz28 tune and he is untuned. But he was hitting 13.3s, 13.4s at 107, 108mph.

I know i still have a leak where my #1 primary slips on but do you think that could make that much difference? What do you guys think and how can i improve. What do you recommend i get. Thanks.

I agree you should have more MPH. My A4 with just a K&N cai and a cut out went 8.9@ 80 on a 2.1 60ft and with Lt's and a E-water pump would run 8.8@ 83 on 2.2 60ft's all day long. Fix that A/F and you should pick up quite a bit.

Your trap speed looks about right, but your short times are killing your overall ET. Get that 60' down into the 2.0-1.9 range and you'll be down in the low 13's.

I'm affraid to run DR's cuz i don't wanna blow my rearend. How much do you think some poly/poly LCA's would help out my traction. I reved it to about 2000rpm's and slipped the clutch.

Its all about short-times. I run those 60's consistent 2.13-2.2 and pull a 14 flat. Just work on the launch. New tires (street tires) didn't really drop me anything much 1/4 tenth maybe, but its a consistent launch that helped.

It's running rich beacause of your primary header tube is leaking making the pcm add fuel because it thanks it is lean.

there is nothing wrong with the times you ran, obviusly you have a pretty healthy car. get the 60 down it will be much faster. and lean out the tune a bit and you will pick up a good bit more power.

I can't lean out the pcm yet untill i fix the leak. I'm gonna try some JB weld on it. Hopefully it works.

Whether you gain more traction from suspension or tires, it still effects your rear in the same manner. Keep that in mind

my stock A4 camaro with 2.73 gears ran 13.9 on a 60 degree night and again on a 80 degree night with just an unhooked exhaust at the cat

my 60' times are 2.113 on street tires, it wont go any lower on the stock stall with that tall of a gear in the rear

if you increase traction...at least get a girdle or start saving for the next rear end you will need...just facts

i have to agree with everyone in saying to get the short times down

my neighbors TA ran 13.3 with moroso intake, cutout, Hooker shorties, airfoil, 160 stat, and a SLP short shifter.

You are not going to break the rearend with DR's unless you unload a lot more power to it than what you have. I have seen heavily modded LT1 Camaros and Firebirds pull 1.7 sixty's on bone stock rearends and pull deep 12's. I myself have run 1.8's with my car using M/T Cheater Slicks and that was a ****ty run.

Well i guess your right about the traction issue. Maybe when i order my LCA's i'll order a girdle at the same time.

I'm virtually the same in mods and you're right in tune with me. I have an A4 with 2.73s though. My best trap was 104, ran 102 most of the day. 13.5 was my best e.t., ran 13.7 most of the day.

Before some people start telling your mph is off...what I want to know is how is the track? Uphill? Elevation? You said it was 85 out..that sorta hurts performance. Humidity?

People are breaking rears running low 13's(others just smoke the diffs) to where others can get some good #'s on basically stock rear.

Amazing people can look at a time posted AND be able to determine if it was good or bad without knowing nothing about it.

It is silly to compare others runs unless you know the conditions..."my buddy's stock TA ran 13.8@101, so your car is slow"...but your buddy also ran at a outlaw track that is downhill in 35 deg weather with a 30 mph tailwind..

Well its true that the temp probably effected the car some. It was pretty hot out there. But i'm not sure on the humidity over there. I know its not too humid though. I'm not sure how to find out now. The elevation is probably pretty close to see level. I was just comparing my run to my friends run with same mods + pullies and csi waterpump who was trapping at 107, 108mph. I also have a tune and he doesn't. I know that the header leak is probably what hurting my mph. I called hooker and they told me to use some high temp copper RTV around the slip fit. So i guess i'm gonna try that out.
