Firebird Headlight Problems!

Hey guys Im having some problems with my headlights and I think its the actuators that are gone. I will split this into three problems/questions any help is greatly appreciated.
1. The headlights are lazy....sometimes the drivers side doesnt come up and sometimes the passenger side doesnt go down.
2. When the headlights go up or down the make a loud humming noise or whatever and when i popped the hood, i noticed that the manual headlight things were spinning after the light had already gone up or down....this would last like 5 seconds after.
3. Are the actuators expensive? is there one per headlight?

again....any helps is much appreciated.

Your gears are striped, look for the free headlight fix. One of mine was doing the same thing.

The "lazy" headlight thing seems odd.

Check here for the free fix and see if that fixes the lazy headlight issue!

If the free fix works...Do yourself a favor and get Brents gears. I did and the pictures on his site dont do them justice. Eventhough the shots are nice and clear, there is nothing like holding some well machine products in your hands.
Plus if it is your gears that are bad, they will eventually go bad again, the metal gears will not wear out and I love mine and would Highly recommend them.

Thanks,
Claude

Ok, so i did a search and found this thread. I have a third gen, but it's all the same idea. So when I turn on my headlights, my passenger side light moves very slowly for one, and for another about half the time it only goes up half way. In order to get it to go up, I just lift on it lightly and the motor raises it the rest of the way. then when i turn off the lights, it hardly ever goes down, maybe twice since i bought the car. If I turn the manual raise/lower **** a half turn or so the motor takes over and lowers it. Whats the deal?

Get the Brent Franker brass gears and be done with this problem forever. Free fix works too, but for 81 bucks just be done with it.

I did mine and it worked great.
