firebird clear corners

I want to try to make clear corners for my 96 trans am, but want to know if anyone here has tried doing this before without damaging the yellow lens. Can it be removed without breaking?

thanks.

Yes you can, but you need to be VERY careful. It will easily shatter if you apply too much pressure. I removed one side unscathed, the other completely shattered.

thanks, but did you use a heat gun to losen up some of the glue?

Not to sure if that's even glue, or just the 2 plastics melted together.

Well.. actually I didn't need to heat mine, just ran through the seam with a utility knife and it basically pulled apart. I had to grind some of the old yellow oarts off that were left behind but nothing major. THen I had to modify the insides a littlebit because one part will interfear with the new clear lenx.. you'll figure it out once you get in there. I also put a coat of chrome spray-paint inside mine because a lot of the reflective coating was gone. I then used a bunch of rubberbands and some Goo-Glue to glue the new lens on and some clear RTV around the ourside just as insurance once the glue dried. Mine turned out really good, and I've had no issues with them at all.

I never had any problems from the lens melting.

I used the same method that 97FormulaWS-6 used. I love them.
