finnally got headers!! and now runslike crap.. WHY

finished LT headers today and sounds good and idles good but when i drive it it feels like it is missing kinda, also pops alittle when shifting gears every once and a whille/and feels slugish. i did break my cooling temp switch(could this cause that prob.) also when i pulled my plugs before installing headers and they where white. is al of this because it is not tune. im thinking it might be because my heads flow around 260,and i dont have it tuned. also it ran fine before headers install. any thoughts on what it could be.

you recheck all your plug wires and make sure you didnt cross one up somewhere? also make sure you didnt burn a wire on the header and it could be arc'ing? go over all the basics first make sure you got the o2's plugged back in also, never know

Check for burned plug wires, 5 and 6 can get close to the headers. If this is the CC503 car, you probably need a tune to get some more gas in there. White plugs means you're running lean.

I'd be willing to bet money on it. I burned my number 5 wire. My friend put headers on his and burned his number 5. I'd say with confidence that you've done the same thing.

wires are fine just checked, now i dont have the whole exhaust hooked up it just dumps at the y.. could this cause it to run like this.. i drove it today and if i hold it at 2500 cruising it will have little 2 sec bursts of running good then bad againg . almost like an on off switch, or like it is not getting enough fuel but just in spurts any one have this prob?

Coolant temp switch?

Do you mean sensor? If so which one?

Do you have any exhaust leaks? Check to make sure you didn't burn your O2 wires too.

dude double check your wires again. if it was running fine before the headers you obviously did something wrong or something got burned. and the it will pop more with just a open y-pipe. its just how it is

#5 and #6 are the most prone to burning

i think it might be the knock sensor picking up knock because the exhaust is so loud and i cant find anything wrong with the wires just the plugs where white before i even put the headers on, so i know it has to be runing even more lean with the headers.. you think?

I would hold to the fact something that was removed to get the headers
on is not "back on" quite right. I've seen where folks have said, "I've
checked the firing order 2 times and it's fine". Then you read a few
posts later that they checked for a 3rd time, and yes, the #2 and 4
wire were flipped.

I suggest you check your routing one more time - take your time on
this and make sure you're following each wire correctly. Also, check
the OHMs for each wire. Check the coil wire. Check the ground straps,
including the thin one that goes from the PCM to the passenger side
engine block.

There are two "temp" sensors - one is on the water pump, which feeds
information to the PCM; the second one is on the driver's side of the
block (the one everyone breaks because it wasnt removed to install
headers ) - that's the one that drives the gauge inside the car.

Check all fuses and clean the battery terminal connections. Also
check the O2 sensor readings.

I've seen that on more then one occasion as well. Also, check to make sure that you don't have any loose plugs.
