Finally!!! Heads/cam LT1 running right!

Well after not driving my Z since February she is up and running again. The XE 224/230 is everything I hoped for and Lloyd did a heck of a job on the heads. The install was actually pretty simple. I still have stock programming but she goes pretty good and drives great! PCM4less will be doing their thing as soon as possible.

I need to set the rockers a little tighter (I only went 1/8 past 0 lash with stock lifters) and they are a little louder than they should be.

Just one question, will the reprogramming give me more power or is it as good as it gets at at full throttle? How many more horse can a tune give a heads/cam LT1?

I noticed that you have CC 1.6 Pro Magnums. I would live with the noise if you set them right using 1/8 turn. Making them tighter isn't going to quieten them down very much and you can end up costing yourself hp.

BTW with a CC305 and locally P&P heads I made 360/358 RWHP?RWTQ. I now have a 227/233 with different springs from CM which by the way are even noisier, but haven't been back to the dyno.

First off, congratulations! I bet it feels great to drive again.

I need to set the rockers a little tighter (I only went 1/8 past 0 lash with stock lifters) and they are a little louder than they should be.
If that doesn't help, you can always opt for the LT4 composite valve covers. They are supposed to deaden valvetrain noise, and in turn you'll get less "false knock"

Also, do you notice a lot more lope with the cc305? I'm hoping the 114* LSA won't lope too bad, I don't want people to know what I've got in my engine.

Tuning will defintily give you more power all across the board. There was a guy that got his car dyno tuned at Speed Inc. and he picked up 25rwhp with the dyno tune. Tuning has a lot to do with how your car is going to run, especially with your BLM's and whether you're running rich or lean. There is a lot involved with tuning so I would get someone who knows what they are doing.

I made 368rwhp/335rwtq running pig rich. I leaned it and made 383rwhp/353rwtq. That is a small part of the story though. My highest torque gain was 30.6rwtq and 20.6rwhp at certain rpms.

One catch is I used the rgulator to adjust. I am sure the computer has tries to readjust, however it feels like it hasnt lost much since. She traps 114mph. I am getting a retune from madwolf.

Moral of the story - tuning plays alot in the power.

Yeah it feels pretty good! I've had the car a little over 2 years and have only put 5000 miles on it. I guess the bright side is that it's about 2/3 paid for and it feels brand new to me.

The car runs so good I think I'm going to skip the mail order tune all together and just use that $$ twards a dyno tune next month....or some LT4 valvecovers. She runs a little rich but at least I can drive it!!!
