It Finally Gave Up

Well after 174,238 miles the head gaskets finally let go. There is a milk shake in the pan and crap in the radiator. Time to install the engine on the stand. I knew there was a reason I bought that 13,000 mile LT1. Some fresh seals, gaskets, larger cam, springs, rockers, etc. and she'll be ready to install. I knew I shouldn't have waited to get it ready. Oh well.

sorry to hear that... I've got a little over 150k on mine and wonder how many more miles I'll get before something major fails...

Have fun with the new motor. No better time to do upgrades...

There will be a few upgrades but I'm not going wild. It is my DD and I want to just give it a little more ***.

It looks like you got some good miles out of it. It should be a whole new car once you rebuild it and cam it.

I rebuilt the trans about a year and a half ago and added the Vig converter. I'm sure it will quite a change from the old worn out, blow by having, oil leaking, beaten to death engine. By the way, it still has the original Opti and WP! They will be replaced.

eek! I passed 174,200 this morning on my way to work. I hope mine doesn't bite the dust on the way home.

The new engine is going to be stock with just a cam upgrade and computer tuning. Maybe some headers. I have a set of old shortys on the shelf I took off a customers car. They're free so the will probalby go on. Since it's a DD I'm not going too much over stock.
