Finally chirps 3rd gear :)

It finally chirps 3rd gear.

My Z28 has never chirped 3rg gear until now.
The sticky 275/40/17 tires, the puny slipping stock clutch and stock HP made this impossible.

After the headers, RR's, wires, and Kevlar/asbestos clutch disk and a few other tweaks it chirps 3rd gear real sweet without even power shifting.
Definitely a whole new car.

nice. i hope i can get 3rd to squeel real well after i finish my exhaust/tune up. on a salty winter day i can spin them into 4th but its just spinning real fast through all the gears. i want a spin like i was stomping it for speed and it just happened to spin.lol. nice looking car BTW, wheels are sweet!

I chirped third on my nittos the other day. Pro 5.0 shifter helps me shift harder and it being cold out helped spin the tires. Haha.

My car is soo much fun to drive in the cold/salty roads of michigan. I can break them loose anywhere under 50mph and get em spinnin good. the 1-2 shifts hard on the a4 w/ 2.73s too.

I think I'm missing something.. I can usually chirp 3rd anytime in my 96 SS with no major mods, the only things I've done were the Centerforce DF clutch, K&N air filter, and air temp sensor along with every available stock SLP option.

The clutch has a bit to do with it. The stock one just doesn't grab hard enough i guess. You say you have the Centerforce which is an improvement over stock.

Also, I know Joel treats his car very well and doesn't torture it. He also doesn't drive it year round and just put the clutch in recently.

actually the two times i chirped third were with the stock clutch. Ive really only gotten on it good once or twice with the new one, so i have yet to see what it can do. Its a spec clutch though, so i dont really have my hopes up

If you still have the stock clutch disk that is quite an accomplishment.
The better clutches seem to be the ticket to more powerful shifts.

I went through three OEM clutch disks and they were toys compared to the one I have now.

I'll probably need gears and a TC before I can chirp 3rd.

Re: Finally chirps 3rd gear :)

Chirping the tires in third gear is usually due to droppong the clutch before applying power. Thus therefore you are actually just draging the tires. When you are power shifting properly, there is no chirping. In fact when done right, people will think you have a automatic.

I could chirp third in my 1997 stock.
Not with my tune, I will have the shift firmness increased with a TC. You're right though, I might have been a little over my head :-D

possble, but for me, nuh-uh. when the tires are squealing at the same time that passengers are being planted in the seat, it is undoubtedly positive chirp.
