Lightbulb Finally!!!

OK, got the new opti in today and the car FINALLY runs! Question is, I smelled something burning... I only ran it for no more than 5 seconds with w/p off and all that stuff just to see if it would start up. What do you guys think the burning smell could have been?? Just finished up with heads/cam project. Hopefully I can get some w/p gaskets today and actually run it!

Make sure your plug wires are on the manifolds/headers...friend of mine burnt up one of those once...

There's no way that the headers could have heated up enough to burn the wires in 5 seconds. I would bet that it's just extra oil from your hands or motor oil on the headers. Pretty common when you're working on your car.

I'm with the previous poster...you'll smell all kinds of interesting things within the first few minutes of running it. Let it warm up and run at regular temps and all of that junk will burn off.

Of course, if you still smell something at that point, you're in trouble.

I wouldn't worry about it.....my car was smoking from all the crap on my headers, or maybe that was just the coating I duno, but I did spill a few drops of oil and stuff on them, so that's probably what your problem is.
